About

Welcome to The Daily Science, more than you wanted to know about stuff you didn’t even know was a thing.

I, Ophid, am a recently graduated Seattle-ite and Biology Major, desperately balancing fancy cheese addictions with looming student loans. Though I plan to apply to veterinary school, I need to build funds and experience first. This has been my plan for a while, but now that I have a job at a lab in a branch of maintenance, I realize that my gap year employment might not keep me as sharp on spinal nerves, amino acids and the Krebs Cycle as I’d thought. Not like I enjoy the Krebs Cycle, BUT STILL.

To combat my post-grad senility, I have undertaken to study a little biology (any sub-topic) each day and post a condensed version on here and Facebook. The idea being that I will be more likely to stick to this if I have some kind of an audience to hold me accountable. My entries will probably start out pretty short, but hopefully will get longer with time.

The science must go on!

DISCLAIMER: Just to make this clear, my qualifications for writing about biology are a Bachelor’s in Arts (I went to a liberal arts school, EVERYONE got that degree) in Biology. I am not a teacher, professor, professional biologist or grad school dropout. I just have this weird urge to study and share what I learn. So if you want help with a topic, keep in mind I am as qualified as an undergrad level biology tutor. That said I am very willing to help anyone that needs it and would love to share my passion for biology with anyone interested. Especially if you want to talk cephalopods. I am ALL EARS for cephalopods.
